From our jobs

Old bungalows and vents that end under the floor

Many of St. Pete's early-1900s bungalows sit on raised foundations with a crawl space underneath. When dryers were added decades later, the easiest route was often straight down through the floor. Sometimes that duct continues out through the foundation to the outside. Sometimes it just stops under the house.

A vent that ends in the crawl space blows hot, wet, lint-filled air under the floor every time the dryer runs. The lint piles up beneath the house, the moisture feeds mold and invites termites, and the dryer still runs slow because the line sags and collects lint along the way. It's also not allowed: dryer exhaust has to end outside the building.

When we find a vent like that, we show you, give you a fixed price to extend it to the outside with rigid duct and a proper cap, and clean the line once it's done.

Warning signs

Signs your St. Petersburg dryer vent is clogged

1

Clothes need a second cycle, or come out hot and still damp.

2

The dryer stops early because its high-limit switch tripped.

3

A burning smell or a hot dryer cabinet. Turn it off and call (727) 855-3490.

4

A musty smell under the house or around the laundry area, a sign the vent may end in the crawl space.

5

Little or no air at the outside vent with the dryer running.

6

It's been more than a year. About 2,900 home dryer fires happen in the U.S. each year, and the U.S. Fire Administration lists failure to clean as the leading cause.

Find your vent first: with the dryer on high, walk outside and look for where the air comes out. If you can't find an exit, or it's coming from under the house, call us.

What we do

Dryer vent services in St. Petersburg

Dryer vent cleaning

Every part of the vent: lint-trap housing, transition hose, the duct through the wall, floor or attic, and the outside cap, cleaned with rotary brushes and a strong vacuum.

Crawl space vent correction

Vents that end under the house extended to the outside with rigid duct, supported so they don't sag, and finished with a proper cap. See dryer vent repair.

Block homes and additions

In mid-century block homes, the laundry often moved into a garage, porch or Florida room addition, and the vent got stretched to reach. We clean the full run and shorten it when it's over the limit.

Rerouting

Florida's residential code allows a 4-inch dryer duct up to 35 feet, minus 5 feet for every 90° turn and 2.5 feet for every 45°. Longer runs get a new, shorter route. See dryer vent rerouting.

Roof dryer vent cleaning

Two-story and newer homes that vent through the roof, cleaned from both ends, with caps cleared and screens removed, since screens aren't allowed on dryer exhausts. See our dryer vent safety guide.

Condos and apartments

In-unit vents in low-rise and mid-rise buildings, coordinated with management when roof or exterior access is needed. See condo, HOA and rental programs.

Waterfront homes

In Shore Acres, Snell Isle and other low-lying waterfront areas, many laundry rooms have been repaired since the 2024 flooding. We check the new connections while we clean.

Transition hose replacement

Vinyl and foil hoses replaced with listed semi-rigid metal, 8 feet or less, never inside a wall or floor. See transition hose replacement.

Inspections

For St. Pete buyers, sellers and landlords: airflow readings and photos in a written report. See dryer vent inspection.

Laundromats, salons, gyms and restaurants

Commercial dryers cleaned on a schedule around your hours. See commercial dryer vent cleaning.

Local know-how

St. Pete homes, by era

Early-1900s bungalows in Kenwood, Old Northeast, Old Southeast and around Crescent Lake: crawl spaces, vents through the floor, and laundry areas added long after the house was built.

Mid-century block homes in Tyrone, Azalea, Jungle Terrace, Disston Heights and Meadowlawn: laundry in the garage or an addition, long runs through block walls.

Waterfront neighborhoods like Shore Acres, Snell Isle and Riviera Bay: humid, salty air that corrodes caps and keeps lint damp.

Whatever the age of the house, once a year is right for most St. Pete households. Every six months for big families, pets or long runs.

Our process

How a St. Pete visit works

  1. A text before we arrive with your technician's name.
  2. We find the vent's exit and measure the airflow there first.
  3. Floors protected, dryer moved carefully.
  4. Problems shown before fixing, with a fixed price you approve.
  5. The whole line cleaned, from both ends when it's long, under the house or on the roof.
  6. Cap cleared and the damper tested.
  7. A second airflow reading, plus photos before and after.

Do you serve all of St. Pete?

Yes, from downtown and the Old Northeast to Tyrone, Jungle Terrace and Shore Acres. Our Seminole team usually comes the same day.

How often should I clean my dryer vent?

Once a year for most homes, every six months for large households, pets or long runs.

Can a clogged dryer vent start a fire?

Yes. Failure to clean is the leading cause of home dryer fires, according to the U.S. Fire Administration.
